Chandigarh.25th September 2020; The Department of Social Welfare Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration is celebrating third Rashtriya POSHAN Maah, 2020 with full of zeal and energy under Poshan Abhiyaan UT Chandigarh from 1st September 2020 to 30th September 2020. During the celebration all the field functionaries (Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers, Supervisors) are working tirelessly and following all the precautionary measures against COVID-19:-
Today, in continuation diverse activities were carried out i.e.Display and Demonstration of Homemade Infant Food Mix at Manimajra, where the Anganwadi workers prepared Home Made Infant food and motivated the new mothers virtually to provide this Low Cost Food to their infant for proper nutrition and growth.
Poshan Walk at Palsora was taken-up organised by Anganwadi Workers to aware the masses about the benefits of 5 SUTRA’s of POSHAN Abhiyaan Importance of First 1000 days, Importance of Nutrient Rich Diet, Anaemia Prevention, Diarrhoea Management and Hygiene & Sanitation. The message circulated among the all beneficiaries in the area of U.T., Chandigarh.
During Kalash Yatra at Dhanas, the pledge was taken to avoid junk food and focussed on adapting Nutritious Healthy Diet by field functionaries and local beneficiaries.
A live session on Power of Nutrition and Lifestyle Change was conducted in convergence with Home Science College Sector 10, Chandigarh. In the webinar, the speaker Dt. Loveleen Kaur shared the presentation on realising the power of nutrition, ways to adapt balanced diet, achieving sustainable eating habits, Success stories: Restoring Health with Lifestyle changes were discussed.
Activities were organised for motivational and inspirational awareness includes Lecture on antenatal care, Growth monitoring, Talk on healthy diet, Home visits, Awareness about iron rich fruits & vegetables, Hand wash activities, Awareness about hygiene & sanitation, Awareness about immunization, Role of green leafy vegetables in our diet, Awareness on importance of regular immunisation, Online talk on complementary feeding and Home visit (lactating mother) will be carried out today in UT Chandigarh in all 450 Anganwadi Centres.
The mission is to create malnutrition free Chandigarh by encouraging maximum public involvements with the various Nutrition awareness activities to make it a Jan Andolan and to weed out the malnutrition and make Chandigarh Malnutrition free.
