COVID19 WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

 

 Chandigarh.19 August,2020: Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Punjab Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services & Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

 

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1.Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they have 137 patients in Covid Ward, out of which 44 belong to Chandigarh, 55 to Punjab, 14 to Haryana, 11 to Himachal Pradesh and remaining to other states.  He also stated that they have tested 733 covid samples, out of which 102 were found positive. Among the positive samples, 69 belong to Chandigarh.  Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they have done 238 testing, out of which 12 belonging to Chandigarh were found positive.  He also stated that during the last two days, 78 persons have been medically treated and discharged from the Hospital. 299 persons were also given tele medicines. He also stated that 258 active covid patients were being provided medical treatment by GMCH-32.  Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services stated that they are continuing with  Antigen Testing and till date, 20,458 testing have been done in U.T., out which 2,692 were Rapid Antigen Tests.

 

 2.Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 1,080 active cases. Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 398 active cases and Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that they have 1,030 active cases. D.C. Chandigarh Sh. Mandip Singh Brar also stated that 04 Containment Zones in Dhanas, Manimajra, Sector 40 and Sector 46 are being kept under constant watch.

3.The War Room discussed the suggestion received from Hon’ble M.P. , Mayor and Councillors during the Video Conference held on Tuesday.  On the basis of their suggestions, the following directions were given:-

(a)        Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT ordered that atleast 25% of beds available in private hospitals and Nursing Homes must be kept reserved for Covid patients. Health Department will issue order accordingly.

(b)        The Administrator directed Commissioner, MC to form various Area Committees, along with Councillors, who can help local administration in keeping a watch over different areas to ensure that the residents follow hygeinic practices like wearing of masks and social distancing etc. and ramp up IEC activities.

 

(c)        The Administrator ordered that Director, Education must ensure that during online teaching being given by various schools, necessary lessons should be given to young children regarding hygienic practices to be followed to prevent covid infection.

 

 

(d)       The Administrator directed Health Department and Muncipal Corporation to ensure that the vendors in markets are tested through Rapid Antigen Method, so that they do not become super spreader in community.

 

 

(e)        The Administrator directed PGIMER to create plazma bank and also to study whether the covid patients are suffering any side affects after treatment and recovery.
