Chandigarh, 6th July 2020: Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh at Punjab Raj Bhawan, Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.



1.Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER expressed concern that such medical cases, which could be treated at district level, are being  sent to PGIMER, without formal reference, thereby crowding the available infrastructure.

 The Administrator directed that the matter be taken up with the neighbouring states, so that such patients could get proper medical treatment in local hospitals.

  2.Deputy Commissioner, Mohali reported that they have 77 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 17 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, UT, Chandigarh stated that they have 82 active cases.

3.The Administrator stressed on more vigorous contacts tracing and screening of outsiders, both at the time of entering the city and also in their place of state.  He directed the doctors and the municipal authorities to ensure that there is no outbreak of monsoon related diseases.

4.Keeping in view the sudden outbreak of covid cases in Education Department, the Administrator directed that teaching and non-teaching staff should not be asked to come to colleges and offices, unless there is emergent work.

5.The Administrator expressed satisfaction with the strict implementation of mask wearing regulations.  He sought the cooperation of residents to contain the spread of covid in the Union Territory.  He also desired that both in government and private offices, only minimum staff should be called and others should be encouraged to work from home.


6.The Administrator also ordered that the practice of employees having lunch together in canteens or in office rooms should be discontinued, keeping in view the social distancing norms.  During tea break also, the employees should wear masks and maintain social distancing.
