Chandigarh.4th April 2020:Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator Chandigarh, Sh. V P Singh Badnore presided over daily War Room meeting.  The major decisions taken today are as under :-


•     The Administrator congratulated the Doctors and all Health Workers for their contribution in recovery of four individuals, who were earlier affected with COVID19.  He wished that more recoveries will take place with the cooperation of all concerned.  He further appealed to the residents not to relax the vigil and to maintain strict social distancing at home and outside.

•     Adviser, Sh. Manoj Parida stated that curfew is being strictly implemented.  The issue of electronic curfew passes has been streamlined.  Necessary arrangements have been made in Faida village.  Moreover, special focus is being given to Senior Citizens, Orphans and Old-Age Homes.

•      Principal Secretary Health, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta mentioned that adequate quantity of PPEs, masks and medicines are available in all the hospitals.  Necessary coordination is being made by the Health Department to ensure that the best treatment is being given to the affected persons.  Supervision and Regular Check of Individuals Quarantined is being carried out.

•     Finance Secretary, Sh. AK Sinha mentioned that all arrangements for payment of salary and release of wages to the people have been made.  The mobile ATMs are also getting popular among the residents.  He stated that the Labour Department is in touch with the Industries Associations over the issue of curfew passes, so that they may pay the wages to their workers.

•    Director General of Police, Sh. Sanjay Beniwal explained that law and order situation is under control.  Wherever necessary, action is being taken against the violators of curfew.  

•    Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Sh. K K Yadav stated that necessary tie-up has been made with the PGIMER for cremation of dead bodies in a scientific manner and as per protocol by the Government of India.  Red Cross vans are being utilized for transporting dead bodies from hospitals to the cremation ground.  He also stated that the new odd-even system in Sector 26 Mandi is working smoothly.  He also stated that special arrangements are being made to sanitize Sector 26 Mandi.  Lastly, sufficient fodder has been provided to the Gaushalas in the city.

•     Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar stated that he alongwith Senior Superintendent of Police, Smt. Nilambari Jagadale visited Faidan Village today. Necessary arrangements for distribution of dry rations have been made over there.  The residents have been advised to maintain proper social distancing.  Moreover, a total of 52,044 cooked food packets were distributed in the city at various places. He also informed that 1,04,66,574 (One Crore four lakhs sixty six thousand five hundered seventy four only) have been contributed by various individuals and organizations in COVID fund till date. 

•     Hon’ble Governor appealed to the citizens to abide by the appeal of Hon’ble Prime Minister to light candles, torches and oil lamps at 09:00 PM on Sunday.  He clarified that consumers should keep their electrical appliances including TVs/Refrigerators and ACs SWITCHED ON at home during that period, so that the load variation could be smoothly handled.  He also appealed to the residents to remain safe while lighting the lamps at home.

The meeting was attended to by the Adviser, Sh. Manoj Parida, Sh Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary Home, Sh A K Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police, , Commissioner, MC, Deputy Commissioner. The Administrator also interacted with Deputy Commissioner’s of Mohali & Panchkula, Director, PHIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.
