Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator Chandigarh, Sh. V P Singh Badnore along with Adviser Sh. Manoj Parida and other senior officials  took the daily review  in War Room, UT Secretariat of the arrangements being made in the present situation. 

The Administrator informed that in the video conference held with Hon’ble President of India held today, wherein it has been desired that all Government and Private schools should start Online teaching to the students, who in present situation are stranded at home due to curfew. The Administrator directed the officials to implement the same with true spirit. 

The Administrator was informed that, Central Government has sent 1000 PPE, 5000 masks and 10000 hydroxychloroquine for use in the medical institutions.  Further, in the newly established dedicated facility for Positive Patients in PGIMER, 07 Positive Patients from GMCH-32 and 01 Positive patient from GMSH-16 have already been shifted to Nehru ing of PGIMER. 

The Administrator thanked the doctors for their cooperation in setting up the dedicated Corona ward in PGIMER for Positive patients.  He stated that all the doctors must work together and testing must be done simultaneously in both the centres.  The Administrator assured the doctors and paramedical staff that their safety will remain a top priority for the Chandigarh Administration.

Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that neighbouring states should not send suspected cases without first locally testing them, lest the facility in Chandigarh gets over-crowded. 

Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner informed that 53,047 cooked food packets have been distributed among the destitutes in various parts of the city.  The Administrator thanked nearly 50 NGOs, charitable organizations, Gurdwara Committees, temples etc, who have contributed in serving cooked food packets.

Sh. K K Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation stated that distribution of vegetable and fruits in various sectors has been working fine.  In addition to the rates being displayed about the vegetables, the range of rates for fruits will also be indicated on CTU buses from tomorrow.  He also informed that all carriers of home delivery have been provided with necessary passes to deliver groceries and vegetable in doorsteps.  

He mentioned that Gaushalas, both run by Municipal Corporation and otherwise are being provided adequate fodders for the cattle. Similarly, the dedicated work volunteers have been nominated for feeding the stray dogs at the designated points. 

The Administrator appreciated the efforts of Sh. K.K. Yadav, Commissioner, MC for streamlining the processes in wholesale market in Sector 26 by introducing odd/even number rotation and maintaining social distancing.

Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police informed that vehicles have been impounded during the curfew and necessary action has been taken to maintain law and order during the curfew period.  He also mentioned that border of Faidan village has been sealed.

Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary stated that all arrangements for residents to withdraw money and salary from various branches have been tied up.  Similarly, mobile ATMs are being deployed regularly and its route chart is being informed to the public everyday.  He further stated that the residents can avail the facility of post offices to withdraw money from the accounts of any bank.
Further, Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser stated that initially there were problems in cremation of dying positive patients out of corona.  Subsequently, the matter has been sorted out and manpower arranged and trained for cremation in a scientific manner, as per the protocol laid down by the Central Government.  

Adviser also thanked Mayor, Smt. Raj Bala Malik for having consented and provided sanitary napkins to be distributed among the residents in periphery villages and colonies.  He further informed the Administrator that the availability of essential items to the residents and distribution of cooked food to the destitute is working satisfactorily.  All complaints are being attended on priority.  A professional counselor has been deputed to counsel the stranded migrant labour in Maloya, so that they do not suffer from stress or anxiety.  

Adviser also informed the Administrator that the facility of medical consultation over video call and tele-medicine will be started from tomorrow in both GMSH-16 and GMCH-32.  The details of the names of doctors, their disciplines and timings will be informed to the public through media.
Sh. VP Singh Badnore appealed to the people of Chandigarh to cooperate with the Administration in successfully implementing the curfew and to stay indoors, so that the corona infection is contained.

The meeting was attended to by the Adviser, Sh. Manoj Parida, Director General of Police, Finance Secretary, Commissioner, Commissioenr, Municiapl Corporation, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh. The Governor also interacted with Deputy Commissioners of Mohali and Panchkula, Director, PGIMER, Director Principal, GMCH and Director Health Services through Video Conferencing.
