Chandigarh, 29th December 2019:The connoisseurs of art and music were in for a visual treat today at the Tagore Theatre with the grand presentation of 'Glorious Passages', An Odissi dance performance. Today's performance was organized by the Aurodhan Art Gallery, Puducherry and Lalit Verma in association with Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration with Sutra Foundation, Malaysia.

The Adviser to the Administrator, Shri Manoj  Parida graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The Glorious Passages featured signature works representing the late Guru Debaprasad parampara, highlighting its distinctive features which make this parampara unique in the contemporary odissi repertoire.

The truly mesmerizing and artistic performance featured 3 generations of dancers namely Ramli Ibrahim, a distinguished Odissi dancer and founder of Sutra Foundation; Geethika Sree, a senior dancer of Sutra who has performed internationally with Sutra; and four young dancers (Dheva Kumaran, Hareen Loganathan, Priyanngka Gunalan & Deepaa Jayabalan) who are fresh talents from Sutra Dance Outreach Program. The Outreach Program was mooted five and a half years ago to empower youths with the discipline of Indian classical dance.

It is also worth mentioning that the Sutra Foundation, a bastion of traditional and contemporary arts, based in Kuala Lumpur, is bequeathed to Malaysia by one of its most celebrated sons, Datuk Ramli Ibrahim. The Foundation carries into the future the thread of his vision and contribution to the arts scene, nationally and internationally, striving to develop the breadth and performing and visual arts through stimulating the creative spirit of cross-cultural Malaysia.
