Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme extended towards of State Police Officials


Chandigarh, July 22: The benefits of the Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) under the aegis of the National Defence Fund (NDF) have now been extended to the dependent wards of the State Police Officials, martyred during the terror/naxal attacks, across all the States/UTs from the academic year 2019-20.

As per the communication received from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the scholarship amount under the scheme has been enhanced also to the extent of Rs. 3000 per month for Girls and Rs. 2500 per month for Boys. 

The scope of the PMSS was only limited to the wards of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles (AR). For the wards of CAPFs and AR, a total of 2000 scholarships (Equally for both boys and girls) would be given for each academic year in addition to the renewal cases of the previous years. Similarly, a total of 500 scholarships would be given to the wards of State Police Personnel, martyred during the terror/naxal attacks, in equal measure for both the Boys and the Girls (i.e. 250 for Girls and 250 for the Boys.)

All the eligible applicants can apply on the website of the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) i.e. www.scholarships.gov.in.

The Superintendent Police, Police Branch, Home Department, Chandigarh Administration, has been designated as Nodal Officer to Police Personnel and forward their applications online to Central Government as per the guidelines. The details of the officer are as under:
